Advisor Land and Mineral Rights Support multiple product groups and commodities Based in Belmont with some travel required 12 months fixed term contract About the role We are looking for an Advisor Land and Mineral Rights to join our Land Access & CSP team to support the team in facilitating land access that is critical to the success of Rio Tinto Exploration's business. This role is a great opportunity to work with key external stakeholders (especially traditional owners and consultants) to co-ordinate and conduct heritage surveys and provide strategic advice to the business on land access matters. Reporting to the Land Access Specialist, you will be accountable for: Reporting to the Land Access Specialist, you will be: Ensuring strict compliance with statutory, legal and contractual obligations; Assisting with the preparation of native title and heritage protection agreements and landholder access agreements with discipline specialists and external providers; Liaising with statutory bodies and stakeholders regarding land and mineral rights issues, new regulations and legislation; Providing leadership in HSEC and assurance by anticipating current and future risks and managing these; Liaising with landholders, indigenous representative bodies, Rio Tinto community relations and other third parties over issues including native title, cultural heritage, access rights, land use and land tenure acquisition; Acting as a company representative at land access negotiation meetings and cultural heritage clearances and ensuring ongoing compliance with statutory and contractual obligations; Maintaining documents and databases with respect to land and mineral rights obligations and compliance About you To be successfully considered for this role, you will have: Understanding and operational experience of the relevant mineral rights and land access related legislation; Functional understanding of related acts as they impact upon mineral rights such as Environmental, Heritage, local government and commercial implications; Experience in collaborating and engaging with a range of contacts in the relevant local communities and with external stakeholders; Understanding of industry codes of conduct across relevant jurisdictions; Functional understanding of mineral rights management systems; Excellent negotiating skills and highly develop verbal and written communication skills; Graduate qualifications in a related field such as Mineral Title, Geoscience, Law, Archaeology or equivalent will be highly regarded but not essential.
